Quality Engineer

Bowmill Poole

Bowmill Poole is currently seeking an experienced Quality Engineer.

Purpose of Role

  • To ensure the QMS of the business [QMM/POLICY/BOCS] is managed & maintained to compliance of all customer quality requirements & AS9100 [Latest Revision] certification.
  • To ensure the quality & business objectives are achieved, improved & where failure is recorded, implement & manage corrective & preventative action[s].
  • To strictly monitor & maintain customer requirements in respect of quality & metrics, providing corrective action & preventative solutions.
  • Deputise [all duties & responsibilities] for the Quality Manager.

Responsibilities

  • To uphold company policies as documented in the Business Strategy.
  • To ensure correct practise, legalities and responsibilities in respect of the QMS/H&S/EMS are maintained.
  • To manage customer returns & QUALITY CLINICS in accordance with BOCS-18 & to the defined time restraints – MANDATORY.
  • Customer liaison in respect of customer returns & RCCA.
  • Support internal and external auditing activities.
  • Maintaining the Quality Management System.
  • To initiate, manage and document all corrective actions to ensure preventative action is effective and production management is not compromised.
  • To ensure product non conformity & customer is communicated to the production staff in a timely manner.
  • To monitor performance of all direct manufacturing operatives[workshop daily patrol] in respect of quality and recommend training, or corrective action as appropriate to secure sales and performance objectives.
  • To ensure employee training is identified, managed and documented accurately and timely [BOCS-24]
  • To deputise for the Quality Manager when absent.

Specific Duties

  • To provide by the first day of each month:
    • Accurate PPM customer quality data
    • Accurate PPT data [in QM absence]
  • To assist or MANAGE quality clinics in accordance with BOCS-18.
  • To fully support quality reviews & ensure all / any RCCA are conducted on time & effectively.
  • To maintain the QMS per BOCS-01
  • To support specific customer quality requirements in respect of inspection when requested [i.e. e-silk]
  • To engage the support of managers & supervisors [as applicable] in respect of product manufacture, the Quality Manager in respect of Quality Systems and the Planning Engineers in respect of processing documentation.

Measures of Performance

  • Reduction of non-conformance.
  • PPM to customer
  • Q Clinics & actions arising from Q Clinics on time & effective
  • Corrective actions resulting from external audits.
  • The effective implementation of continuous improvement initiatives where ownership is assigned.

Production Engineer

Bowmill Poole

Bowmill Poole is currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Production Engineer to join our production team.

The main aspects of the role comprise of:

• Managing and expediting your assigned customers orders from receipt until delivery of a finished product
• Entering all customer sales on the sales management sheet
• Ensure that all information is detailed and accurate, week by week, in preparation for weekly sales reviews
• You will be responsible for ensuring all production requirements are entered accurately onto the production run list and capacity planning schedules.
• Attending all production meetings and reviews as required
• On the first day of each month, you will be providing a delivery performance report, arrears quantity and value and a declaration of monthly and quarterly projected sales to customer demand and order.

The ideal candidate will have had previous experience working in a similar role and industry and will also thrive in a fast-paced, passionate environment. Experience working in a customer facing role is a must, as well as working closely with engineers on a shop floor.

CNC Mill/Turn Programmer/Setter/Operator

Your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Reading & interpreting a 2D drawing
  • Producing CNC programs off line from customer drawings – not just editing
  • Fully fixture and tool [cutters] to produce component to drawing
  • Inspect own work to drawing
  • Aerospace requirements/standards, tolerance and controls
  • CNC program operating systems
  • General high standard of engineering ability – fully skilled
  • 5C

Your skills and qualifications as a fully-skilled CNC Mill/Turn:

  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering
  • Experience of CNC and manual milling and turning
  • Be able to program, set and operate different machine tools

  • Adept with FANUC Controls and have solid experience in the aerospace industry.

Your main responsibilities will involve;
– Read & understand a 2D drawing [views and tolerancing]
– Set up and operate CNC MILL/TURN
– Edit machine offsets or change cutters/tips and re -inspect next item produced
– Inspect own work to drawing
– Understand aerospace requirements/standards, tolerancing and controls
– CNC program Operating systems
– General high standard of engineering ability
– 5C

Your skills and qualifications as a semi-skilled CNC Mill/Turn;
– Completed a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering
– Experience of CNC and manual turning
– Be able to set and operate different machine tools

Systems Manager

Bowmill Poole is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Systems Manager to ensure stock control is kept accurate and to process customer purchase orders into sales orders.

The main responsibilities of this role will be:

• To ensure stock control is continually accurate, maintained effectively and properly stored. Ensure accurate data is available at all times from WIP. Process customer purchase orders into sales orders and that all relevant supporting documents, such as drawings, are available, legible and controlled.
• To analyse works order cards and liaise with operators in order to amend and correct errors, all the while ensuring that stock has been booked in and paperwork matches the bookings.
• To monitor and analyse workshop data collected, and correct any errors as required.
• To ensure efficient business operations, which will maintain and exceed the expected profitability as defined in the annual budget.
• To ensure the business maintains the appropriate resource levels to secure customer requirements & report to Directors where resource is required.
• To provide effective stock control and logistics throughout the operation of the business.
• To provide accurate information to the MD when requested on WIP, stock levels and data collection
• Taking ownership of the department and team by leading and motivating colleagues taking on personnel responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a similar position, with an ability to be analytical and efficient.

Airbus Facility Manager

Bowmill Poole

Bowmill Engineering is currently seeking a skilled Production Manager for our Airbus facility.

The ideal candidate will be able to plan for aerospace components in an SME using the Standard Production Management Sheet, Capacity Planning Model and to calculate start dates and determine completion dates. Must have the ability to manage a team of production engineers including monthly sales and production management, recovery management and have understanding of CNC manufacturing and machine shop management.

Experience with customer communication and experience working according to a quoted lead time are a must, and experience working closely with engineers in a workshop environment would be very beneficial.
