Honer/Lapper

Bowmill Poole is currently recruiting for an experienced Honer/Lapper.

Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

• Set up and operate honing and lapping machines safely and efficiently.
• Process components to specified dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, abrasives, and machine settings.
• Measure and inspect components using precision measuring equipment, including:
• Use of Micrometers
• Bore gauges/Air Gauges
• Vernier calipers
• Dial indicators
• Surface finish measuring instruments
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Identify and troubleshoot machining or quality issues.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality standards and production schedules.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience operating honing, lapping, or precision finishing equipment (essential).
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of geometric tolerances and precision measurement techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and to work collaboratively with quality, engineering, and production teams.
• Understanding and adherence of workplace health, safety & environmental requirements.

The ideal candidate will have good experience in a machine shop environment and have a high level of attention to detail and final product quality.
